Wayne O. Robertson is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs and a Justice of the Peace for the parish of St. Andrew. He is a strategic thinker, high-achiever, and dynamic and transformational leader with a penchant for excellence.
Mr. Robertson’s professional career began in 1997 at his alma mater, Kingston College, where he taught French for a short period. Thereafter, he transitioned to the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) where he was exposed to technical cooperation and project management while working in the Bilateral Unit. During his tenure at the PIOJ, he worked on projects funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the former Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Department for International Development (DFID) (United Kingdom).
Mr. Robertson holds a Master of Science Degree (MSc.) in Government and two (2) Bachelor’s Degrees, including a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). He is fluent in French and is also trained in Project Management, Policy Development and Implementation, Strategic Planning, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, and is a Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner. He previously served as Chief Technical Director (Office of the Prime Minister); Principal Director, Public Sector Modernisation Programme Implementation (Office of the Cabinet), Senior Director, Strategic Policy, Planning, Projects and Research (Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce), Senior Director, Strategic Policy, Planning and Reform, and Senior Director, Corporate Services (the former Ministry of Local Government and Community Development).
He has recorded game-changing achievements over the years and led the processes which culminated in the following:
Mr. Robertson has also served as sports administrator. He is a former President and General Secretary of the Jamaica Volleyball Association. During his tenure as President, Jamaica was ranked No. 1 in the Caribbean in Beach Volleyball – the first in Jamaica’s history. In addition, he conceptualised the Parish Association model and the Primary Schools’ Volleyball League to aid the development, growth, and sustainability of the sport.
He is passionate about mentoring young people, contributing to charitable projects, and serving the people of Jamaica.
