Judith Grant is an attorney-at-law with 25 years of experience in the legal profession.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Legislative Drafting from the University of West Indies. She is also a graduate of the Norman Manley Law School.
Miss Grant commenced her professional career in 1997 as a Judicial Clerk at the Court of Appeal. The following year she began her career in legislative drafting at the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel. She was appointed as Chief Parliamentary Counsel on March 1, 2019.
She has been responsible for drafting legislation such as the Electronic Transactions Act, the Data Protection Act, the Child Care and Protection Act, the Child Pornography Prevention Act, the Proceeds of Crime Act, the Cybercrimes Act and the Terrorism Prevention Act.
She is also credited with the co-creation of It Inna Di Law! A Guide to Jamaica’s Environmental Laws, a 2005 publication of the Jamaica Environment Trust. This publication stemmed from her participation in a six-week training programme in Environmental Law and Policy in Costa Rica in June 2002, which was sponsored by the University of Florida and the University of Costa Rica.
